Top 5 Fall Travel Destinations

Hello Dolls!

Fall is here and with that comes some fabulous fashion, new temperatures, and beautiful scenery. With this fall season comes a lot of benefits to travel to far off destinations with some beautiful scenic payoff.

When you are traveling in October, you are technically traveling during the off season so there are so many benefits that you might not even realize. The best thing is reduced prices. Airline prices for October flights are definitely massively cheaper than in the summer. The weather is definitely cooler which might be a good thing if you are traveling to a place where the weather is notoriously hot. On off season you will experience a lot less tourists so places will be easier to spend a lot of time in, especially if they are tourist hot spots. Which means less lines, less crowds, and less reservation wait time.

Let’s talk about some of the best places to travel in the fall season.

Upstate New York

Upstate New York is not what you think of when you think of New York. There is a ton of farm land, trees, mountains, and terrain. It is not the Manhattan skylight and definitely does go to sleep at about 9:00pm. In the autumn Upstate New York happens to be one of the most breathtaking places you can be. The leaves are peak in mid October, the fall festivities are starting and you will find most people travel from all over the world to see why Apples are so infamous to New York. Every weekend comes with cooler weather, breweries staying open very late,  apple and pumpkin picking.

Asheville, North Carolina

As you may know, I was just in Asheville and it is a must visit in the fall. The leaves are beautiful, the hiking is amazing, and the food to die for. It is one of the most traveled places in the fall with attractions such as the Biltmore Estate, River Arts District, and the close proximity to the Appalachian Trail. Asheville is also known for their breweries and  being every gastro-experts playing ground. The food is delicious and has a creative flair that is unmet by many destinations. It is a must stop fall location.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

This beautiful mountain oasis is much compared to Lake Tahoe without the price tag and glitz but with all of the beautiful scenery you can imagine. It has remained untouched by the travel industry which makes it a secret gem of America. A lot of travelers don’t give Wyoming a second thought when thinking of places to travel but to them, I say reconsider. Jackson Hole offers a bunch of lovely scenery and a lot of amazing skiing starting in the fall season. The beauty of Jackson hole has caught the attention of many notable celebrities including Harrison Ford.

Munich, Germany

I am not going to lie to you. This is a travel destination that is not on the hidden gem list. A lot of people have Oktoberfest on their bucket list and this one will probably be dense with tourism. That being said, Germany in October is perfect for scenery, fall festivals, and fun celebration. Oktoberfest runs from September 21st-October 6th and is the largest folk festival in the world, where 6.9 million litres of beer is prepared for sale. Munich in itself is a beautiful place to experience fall with the autumn menus and leaves vibrantly changing, even if you choose to not partake in the Oktoberfest festivities.

Jaipur, India

October is the perfect time to visit India for a few reasons. The weather is slightly cooler. By slightly I mean there are still moments of 90 F but it can drop to 75 degrees. Also in October India experiences their renowned Diwali festival. Diwali is a hindu holiday that starts their festival season. Lasting four to five days and is know to be a festival of lights and it celebrates victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. During Diwali, Jaipur transforms the city into a glitzy affair of lights and beauty. Diwali is celebrated for 5 days in Jaipur and on days 1-3 the entire city is a festival of lights and beautiful fireworks. It is one of the most magical places to celebrate the festival.

Although travel is fun and exciting, autumn brings a ton of festivities right inside your home town. It could mean a menu change at your favorite restaurant, going to the local farm that has been converted into a pumpkin patch, taking a walk through a local park and feeling the crispness in the air…even if you live somewhere that is always pretty warm. Some of the best travel destinations might be right outside of your door. Take advantage of the beautiful scenery that may surround your doorstep. Take a hike, or just go outside and breath in the fresh air…Which could be the cheapest destination.

Cheers
