Corn Silk Tea

How to Make Corn Silk Tea?

Did you know you can turn leftover corn cobs into a delicious and healthy drink? Corn Silk Tea is made with just one ingredient and takes just 5 minutes! Packed with flavor and tradition, it's a great way to reduce food waste and enjoy potential health benefits.

What is Corn Silk Tea?

Corn silk tea is a fantastic way to do just that! This easy-to-brew beverage boasts medicinal benefits traditionally used in Asia. While bottled versions exist, making your own at home is simple and reduces food waste.

This herbal tea, made from the silky husks on corn cobs, offers a slightly sweet and mild flavor. It's known for its natural diuretic, kidney-supporting, blood sugar regulation, and anti-inflammatory properties – all while aiding digestion!

Ingredients:

  1. Fresh corn silk

  2. Water

Steep the perfect cup of loose leaf tea with this clear, round tea infuser.

Directions:

  1. Remove the corn silk (the thread-like strands found under the husks of ears of corn ) from your corn husk and trim off any dead or exposed ends.

  2. If you’d like to dry your corn silk out, spread the thread-like fibers out on a tray and let it sit in the sun until dry to the touch. This step is optional, but you can save dry corn silk for future tea!

  3. When ready to brew, add corn silk into a mug directly or a large bowl/jar and pour hot water over it. Let steep for 5 minutes. Alternatively, you can add water and the thread-like fiber to a pot and boil for 5-8 minutes.

  4. Strain and enjoy iced or hot!
